REVIEW: M1 Finance, Learn How to Invest the Easy Way
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably heard me preach the fact that you can’t retire without investing. Ouch. And it turns out, 45% of Americans over age 55 have nothing saved for retirement.
Let’s face it— Investing can be scary, whether you know a little bit about it or nothing at all.
That’s why I use and recommend M1 Finance to all of my clients.
From the start, they help you save for your goal, whether it be retirement or something else. By guiding you through the process and investing FOR you, they take the scary out of the entire process.
What exactly is M1 Finance?
M1 Finance is a finance app that allows you to invest, borrow, and spend all in one place. It still gives you the flexibility to set your own strategy, while then automating everything else. And the best part is that it’s absolutely free, unless you choose to switch to their low-cost M1 Plus.
Effortless, seamless, and intelligent and all at a low or no cost, M1 Finance uses innovative tech that keeps finance personal. You can easily customize and manage your money the way you want using their wide range of tools.
By customizing and automating your portfolio, you can simply grow your Traditional, Roth, and SEP IRA accounts. With their pie-based interface, it’s never been easier to manage and expand your portfolio. And in case you didn't know, visuals are hella important for reaching your financial goals.
What I love about M1 Finance is that you can either choose a custom investment plan OR choose from one of their 80 portfolios, which takes the hard and scary work completely out of the picture if you’re a beginner. Plus, you can completely automate your contributions so you never have to worry about making payments to your future and can keep your portfolio on track to meet your goals.
This is even cooler—M1 Finance lets you borrow up to 35% of your invested portfolio at extremely low rates. This is a great option for when you are ready to make those big life purchases, like a house or a wedding.
The interest rate for a free M1 Finance account is only 3.50% (2.00% if you are using M1 Plus).
The one qualification is this— a taxable brokerage account with a $10,000 or greater invested balance. In addition, please take time to learn more and read over their risks.
It’s easy to set up— once you create an M1 Finance account and reach the qualification, you are automatically enrolled.
With an easy-to-navigate interface and innovative technology, M1 Finance makes it easy to start investing and grow your money.
With M1 Finance’s personal debit card, you can spend your investments easily and effortlessly. When you sign up for their M1 Plus membership, you can even earn 1% cash back!
In addition, you can group both your spend, borrow, and invest account portfolios to easy access and use your funds when need-be. Anywhere that accepts Visa will easily accept the M1 Finance debit card as well.
M1 Finance is one of my favorite tools I use to manage my investments. It’s perfect for beginners and those just starting out. I always stress how important investing is to my clients— and that it doesn’t matter how much you start with, only that you start now, even if it’s only $20 a month.
I am an affiliate of M1 Finance but as always all my opinions are my own. I will never partner with a brand/organization that I do not personally use or believe in.
