It wasn’t long ago that every personal finance book looked the same: bold title, promise of amazing results, and smiling white guy.

But things are looking different these days. 😏

Money books are starting to reflect the many identities of people who want those promises of generational wealth and financial freedom–and I’m here for it!

In no particular order, here are 11 books that get my stamp of approval:

  1. Get Good with Money by Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche. Tiffany is one of the icons of personal finance, and she always keeps things practical and actionable, including this foundational guide.
  2. Keeping Finance Personal by Ellyce Fulmore. Ellyce is a champion of identity-based personal finance, highlighting how folks need to approach money differently depending on other aspects of their life, whether they’re neurodivergent, polyamorous, etc.
  3. Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life by Vivian Tu. You’ve probably seen Vivian on social media, and for good reason! She’s especially relevant for folks looking to build long-lasting wealth.
  4. Your Journey to Financial Freedom by Jamila Souffrant. Jamila focuses on financial freedom–the ability to make the choices you want–and shares from her perspective as a wife, mother, and first-generation Jamaican immigrant.
  5. Taking Stock: A Hospice Doctor’s Advice on Financial Independence, Building Wealth, and Living a Regret-Free Life by Dr. Jordan Grumet aka Doc G. If you want to think more deeply on what it means–financially and otherwise–to have a life well-lived, this is the book you need.
  6. How to Afford Everything by Dr. Darla Bishop. Dr. Bishop shares generously, whether speaking about her own financial journey or helping others achieve what she has, from affording graduate school to being a financial rock for her family.
  7. We Should All Be Millionaires: A Woman’s Guide To Earning More, Building Wealth, and Gaining Economic Power by Rachel Rodgers. If you want help thinking big and expanding your ideas of abundance, Rachel is the expert for you!
  8. Tipped: The Life Changing Guide to Financial Freedom for Waitresses, Bartenders, Strippers, and all Other Service Industry Professionals by Barbara Sloan. Barbara’s guidance is dialed in on folks who work outside the 9-5, addressing things like inconsistent income and saving for retirement as a tipped worker.
  9. Financially Lit! The Modern Latina’s Guide to Level Up Your Dinero & Become Financially Poderosa by Jannese Torres. You might know Jannese from the Yo Quiero Dinero podcast, and her book is just as full of good financial guidance.
  10. Money for Couples by Ramit Sethi. Ramit has been in the game for years, and his latest book reflects his deep finance knowledge with a focus on relationships.
  11. Moving Beyond Broke by Dasha Kennedy aka The Broke Black Girl. If you feel like you’re at square one (or even behind that!), then this relatable and actionable guide is perfect for you.

BONUS: Financial Feminist by Tori Dunlap aka me. Obviously I can’t forget this one! From avoiding debt to investing, I created the all-inclusive guide to personal finance from a feminist perspective.
