I'm Tori!

After successfully saving $100,000 at age 25, I quit my corporate job in marketing to fight for your financial rights. I’ve helped over three million badass women make more, spend less, and feel financially confident.

I Won an Award!

When I received the tweet from GenTwenty (hey Nicole!) that Victori Media had been nominated for a Liebster Award, I was beyond flattered. Being acknowledged with some other #girlboss blogs (The Confused Millennial and Gen Y Girl,) I feel absolutely blessed to be in a community of like-minded women supporting each other.

The basic rules for accepting a Liebster award:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their site on your blog.

  2. Display the award on your blog.

  3. Answer 10 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

  4. Nominate 3-10 other bloggers for the award and notify them via Social Media.

  5. Create a new list of questions for your nominees to answer.

  6. List these rules in your post.

  7. Feel amazing that your blog has won a new award and pass it on!

I nominate beautiful Amanda from Advice From a Twenty-Something, financial guru Brittany from Britt & the Benjamins, and inspiring Catherine from The Blissful Mind. Your turn!

1. What was your main motivation for starting your blog?

I’ve been perseverating over starting a blog for YEARS. At the end of last year, I realized I needed to stop making excuses for myself. As an entrepreneur and marketer  in my early twenties who has her life (mostly) together, I wanted to share my experiences on career, travel, social media marketing, and more.

2. What are some books you think everyone in their twenties should read?

I love Liz Gilbert (I even got to meet her once!) so “Big Magic” is a great read for fueling your creative fire. And one you’ve probably never heard of, “Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives”, will completely change your view on the importance of self-care and just being (regardless of whether you’re religious or not.)

3. What is one major goal you have for the next year?

By the end of this calendar year, I would love my blog to be profitable.

4. What are your favorite pizza toppings?

I’m really into spinach and four-cheese CPK pizzas right now, but I also love the classic pepperoni. Pizza is bae.

5. If you could have coffee with anyone (famous, not famous, alive, dead — anyone!), who would it be?

J.K. Rowling, no doubt. I have read every Harry Potter book at least 10 times, and have so many questions for her (How soon did she know/think up Horocruxes? Was the diadem’s placement in the Room of Requirement intentional? Was the sword of Gryffindor used in the Chamber of Secrets so it could destroy the locket and Nagini? Why are all my questions about Horocruxes?)

6. Cost and time aside, what is your dream travel destination?

New Zealand is goshdang expensive and absolutely beautiful  — it’s on my boyfriend and I’s list. We’re currently saving up airlines miles to cash out (unless a travel website wants to pay for us to go and blog about it? #therealdream)

7. What advice would you give to someone what wants to start a blog?

Just do it. I made excuses for so long about not having enough time, or not knowing how to start a website, blah blah blah. There are so many resources to learn how, and if you have something to say, make your voice heard. And get some guest writers…I have a huge issue being consistent because I’m the one writing all the content!

8. Looking back ten years from now, what do you hope to have done or accomplished?

Jeez, this is one of those questions that gives me anxiety because we all have certain expectations for ourselves. But instead of focusing on my career or relationships, I hope I’m a happy, healthy person who loves and cares for others.

9. What is your favorite blog post that you’ve written so far?

I’ve been to Disneyland 6 times, and it’s one of my favorite places on Earth. My guide to Disneyland highlights all the tips and tricks I’ve learned to have a restful, fantastic day in the park.

10. Who are your role models or people you look up to?

Since hearing her speak (and randomly meeting her outside the theatre!) I absolutely love Liz Gilbert, and look up to her grace and consistent positive attitude. Natalie Portman is my ultimate celebrity girl crush (so poised, intelligent, and compassionate.) The women I surround myself with constantly amaze me: the women in my family, my girlfriends, and my female “Board of Directors.” They make me better.
